Transdev announces Yorkshire and North West Air Ambulance as charity partners for 2026

Bus operator Transdev has announced a new Charity of the Year partnership with Yorkshire Air Ambulance and North West Air Ambulance Charity, with staff set to undertake a programme of fundraising activities over the coming months.

Bus operator Transdev will support both organisations throughout 2026, recognising the vital role air ambulance services play in delivering emergency medical care across Yorkshire, Lancashire and the wider North of England.

Air ambulance charities provide specialist treatment at the scene of serious incidents before transferring patients to major trauma centres and hospitals. Unlike NHS-funded emergency services, they rely heavily on donations from individuals, businesses and communities to maintain operations.

Transdev's fundraising programme will begin with a series of charity walks scheduled for late June. Two events will take place in Lancashire and one in Yorkshire, with participants following routes that mirror local bus services operated by the company.

Employees from across the Transdev business, including drivers, engineers and office-based teams, are expected to take part, alongside family members and supporters.

Representatives from Yorkshire Air Ambulance and North West Air Ambulance Charity have also visited Transdev depots in recent weeks to raise awareness of their work and engage with staff ahead of the fundraising campaign.

The charities were selected following a vote involving Transdev leadership teams across Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Both organisations welcomed the charity partnership, highlighting the importance of corporate support in helping to fund lifesaving emergency response services. Yorkshire Air Ambulance and North West Air Ambulance Charity each depend on voluntary income to sustain daily operations, including helicopter missions, critical care teams and rapid-response treatment.

The charity partnership reflects a growing trend of transport operators working with emergency service charities to raise both funds and public awareness of the essential services they provide across local communities.
