On Saturday, 2 August 2025, six dedicated women from Raccoon Media Group — the team behind major UK events such as the National Running Show and International Running Expo — will undertake a formidable 50-kilometre trek across the rugged terrain of the Peak District. The endurance challenge forms part of the SheRaces trail series and aims to raise vital funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Starting in Hathersage, the route spans approximately 50 kilometres and includes an elevation gain of 1,100 metres — a climb not far short of Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak at 1,352 metres. The trek is expected to test both the physical and mental resilience of the participants.
Raccoon Media Group has a longstanding relationship with Birmingham Children’s Hospital, with staff members regularly engaging in fundraising activities to support the hospital’s essential services. The hospital provides specialist paediatric care, including mental health services for children and adolescents across Birmingham, and plays a crucial role in supporting families during the most challenging times.
The SheRaces trail series, launched in 2025, is the UK’s first female-only trail running circuit. Founded by ultrarunner and advocate Sophie Power, SheRaces is committed to creating inclusive spaces for women in endurance sport and fostering a global community of empowered female athletes. This inaugural event in the Peak District will be followed by additional races in the Surrey Hills and Shropshire Hills in 2026.
The Raccoon Media Group team — Jo Tyler, Hannah Hopwood, Nathalie Davies, Annie Bennett, Sophie Ferrier, and Chloe Hyland — is participating with the support of women’s health and fitness platform Her Spirit.
Jo Tyler, Chief Operating Officer at Raccoon Media Group, shared her thoughts ahead of the challenge:
“We know it’s going to be tough — and honestly, I’m a bit terrified. But I’m proud to be doing it with this incredible group of women. We might not be the fastest, but we have the determination to see it through.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital carries out truly life-changing work. We’ve had the privilege of meeting some of the children and staff, and it’s clear that every penny raised goes directly towards making a meaningful difference. That’s what will keep us moving forward — that, and the incredible scenery of the Peak District.”
