E.ON marks half a million pounds raised for Mind as mental health pressures continue to rise across the UK

  • As demand for mental health support continues to grow, E.ON UK employees have raised more than £500,000 for their national mental health charity partner, Mind

  • One in five adults in England are now living with a common mental health problem, with rates highest in most deprived communities

  • The donations support mental health helplines, online communities and trusted information services

E.ON is marking more than £500,000 raised by its employees for national mental health charity partner, Mind, supporting vital services across the UK.

The milestone reflects four years of the partnership, with the energy supplier raising the funds through a number of initiatives including:

Over £220,000 in match funding, doubling the impact of colleague fundraising

More than £110,000 raised through sponsored challenges and events

Around £55,000 for the Help through Hardship fund, supporting people facing financial and mental health pressures

Over £30,000 from the donation bag scheme, helping stock Mind shops and fund frontline services

Recent research from Mind found that one in five adults (1) in England are currently living with a common mental health problem, with people in the most deprived areas significantly more likely to be affected than those in the least deprived communities. The charity reports the wider cost of mental health problems in England is estimated to be around £300 billion a year(1), underlining the scale of the challenge facing individuals, communities and public services alike.

The £500,000 raised by E.ON will help Mind deliver vital services across England and Wales, including helplines, peer-support communities and trusted mental health information.

The funds could:

Respond to 50,000 more contacts through its Infoline service, or

Keep its Side by Side online peer-support community open for more than a year, or

Distribute five million of pieces of mental health information to schools and communities.

Joanne Horton, Head of Sustainability at E.ON UK, said: “Surpassing the £500,000 donation figure for Mind is an incredible achievement — and one that reflects the passion, generosity and care shown by colleagues right across E.ON. Mental health affects every part of society, including the customers and communities we serve, so supporting Mind’s work has always felt both important and personal. It is a partnership we are incredibly proud of.”

Andrew Berrie, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Mind, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to E.ON and their employees for raising more than £500,000 for Mind. The money raised will help us to deliver vital services such as our helplines and Side by Side peer support platform. It’s so important that people experiencing mental health problems are able to access the support they need. For example, growing numbers of young people are facing challenges with their mental health. Too many are not getting the support they need, forcing many to wait until they are in crisis before care is provided. By raising awareness and money to support our services, we can reach even more people so that no mind is left behind.”

Alongside fundraising, E.ON continues to prioritise mental health through its own wellbeing initiatives and support for vulnerable customers. Much of the company’s policy and engagement work focuses on people facing fuel poverty, financial stress and life-changing circumstances — all of which can have a significant impact on mental health.

Initiatives such as the Safe & Well Awards and wellbeing education sessions support conversations around mental health, encouraging employees and customers alike to reach out, support one another, and challenge stigma around mental health problems.
