Ansvar Insurance has successfully completed its ambitious '£25k in 25' fundraising initiative, raising £25,216 for 16 national and local charities.
The Brighton-based specialist insurer, which serves the charity, not-for-profit, faith and care sectors, launched the campaign in January 2025 with a target of raising £25,000 purely through employee-led fundraising activities.
The campaign, which originated from a proposal by employee Shaun Utting, saw the entire Ansvar team engage in a year-long calendar of physical and community-based challenges. Highlights included sea swimming, marathon running, a company-wide bake-off and knitting poppies for the Poppy Appeal.
The initiative's flagship event was a charity football match between Ansvar and some of their broker partners, held at Brighton & Hove Albion's Amex Stadium in May. The match alone raised £10,460 for local charity Esteem, which supports young people to build lasting self-esteem and stronger communities.
The ‘£25k in 25’ campaign concluded with two employees, Fran Leadbetter and Julienne Jones, spending a December night sleeping rough in Brighton as part of the Big Sleep Out event, raising awareness and funds for homeless support services.
Ansvar’s campaign has benefitted a wide range of local and national causes, supporting children, young adults, veterans, the elderly and those experiencing serious illness or hardship.
Samantha Sanderson, Marketing Executive at Ansvar, commented:
“We are thrilled to have reached our target and are incredibly proud of the passion and creativity shown by our team. From the freezing temperatures of a February sea dip to the final Christmas quiz, our colleagues have pushed their personal limits to support the sectors we insure every day.
“To have helped 16 different organisations has been incredibly rewarding. Every penny raised will make a real difference to the charities, from local Sussex organisations to national causes. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when people come together for a good cause.”
The initiative reflects Ansvar’s ongoing commitment to giving back. As part of the Benefact Group, all available profits are given to good causes, reinforcing the company’s focus on supporting the charity and not-for-profit sectors beyond insurance services.
The charities supported through the £25k in 25 initiative were: Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society, Anthony Nolan, Children with Cancer Fund, Clock Tower Sanctuary, Diabetes UK, Esteem, Just Life, Macmillan Cancer Support, Off The Fence, Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare, Rockinghorse, Royal British Legion, Sands, Stand Up To Cancer and Young Lives vs Cancer.
