Getir launches partnership with Neighbourly to give surplus food to charity

Getir, the pioneer of ultrafast grocery delivery, has today launched a national partnership with award-winning giving platform, Neighbourly, to redistribute surplus food to local good causes.

Getir’s gstores will all be partnered with at least one local good cause through the Neighbourly platform. This will notify charities of surplus food donations and prompt them to collect from their local gstore on a daily basis.

The initial launch will be across 50 stores in 30 days, with the aim to be UK wide by the end of the year. By partnering with Neighbourly, Getir is aiming to:

  • Donate quality surplus food to over 300 charities this year

  • Create meaningful relationships with local communities

  • Make a positive impact on the planet

Turancan Salur, Regional General Manager said: “Neighbourly is an essential partner who will support us in giving back to the local communities we operate in. We want to improve the lives of those in our cities and through Neighbourly we can redistribute our surplus food to charities and help feed those in need.”

Steve Butterworth, Neighbourly CEO, said: “Making sure unsold food is put to the best possible use in communities while combating the environmental impact of wasted food is a win-win. We're delighted to be working with Getir as they roll out their new surplus programme across all their cities, helping them build strong relationships with charity partners and make a difference for local families."
