Aberdeen International Airport has marked the end of its two-year charity partnership with AberNecessities after raising £96,000 for the Aberdeen-based children’s charity.

The charity has praised the support of the region’s largest transport hub, highlighting the “incredible generosity” shown by both airport staff and passengers throughout the charity partnership.

The funds raised have enabled AberNecessities to distribute thousands of essential items to disadvantaged families across the North-East of Scotland, helping to ensure children have access to basic necessities.

Launched in January 2024, the charity partnership delivered more than fundraising alone. It also helped raise awareness of the pressures facing local families, with high-profile events such as Jet Set Spin and the Aberdeen Runway Run, alongside passenger donations and staff-led initiatives, playing a key role. In total, Aberdeen International Airport has helped generate £265,000 for charities since 2022.

Danielle Flecher-Horn, founder of AberNecessities, said the collaboration had been “truly transformative”.

“Over the past two years, the incredible generosity of passengers and staff has allowed us to provide thousands of essential items to families who need them most,” she said. “This partnership has not only raised vital funds but has also shone a light on the challenges faced by children in our community. We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support shown by everyone at the airport.”

Mark Beveridge, managing director of Aberdeen International Airport, said he was proud of what had been achieved.

“We are immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished together with AberNecessities,” he said. “Their commitment to supporting local families is inspiring, and it has been a privilege to help amplify their work. We thank our staff, passengers and partners who made this success possible.”

Aberdeen International Airport is now inviting applications for its next charity partner, which will be chosen via an internal staff vote. The new charity partnership will be announced in January 2026.
