The Mountain Warehouse Charity Bag campaign raises over £110,000 in its first year!

Over the past year, Mountain Warehouse have sold over 110,000 canvas bags in their stores across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, with all profits going to local charities. Launching early July 2018, the campaign aimed to offer 252 local charities financial support through the sale of specially designed canvas bags in their local Mountain Warehouse store. Store staff at each branch nominated a local charity, offering support to a wide range of causes. Amongst the wonderful charities we have helped are Mind, Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary and Florence Nightingale Hospice to name a few. By teaming up local charities with their nearest Mountain Warehouse, customers purchasing a bag were able to donate to a cause close to them, therefore giving back to the local community. Through this, we have been able to donate 100% of the profits from each of the £1.99 bags to these local charities. Rosie Aston from Helen’s Trust in Bakewell who received £1,656, said : “We are a small charity who try to make a big difference in the local community. We’d like to say a big thank you to the team at Mountain Warehouse in Bakewell who have raised so much money for our charity with the sale of their bags, which are both beautiful and eco-friendly!” The next phase of the Charity Bag campaign has allowed Mountain Warehouse to partner up with 22 new charities including RNLI, Thames Hospice and Peak District Mountain Rescue. By working closely with a smaller number of charities Mountain Warehouse hope to make a greater impact to each worthy cause. On top of this, Mountain Warehouse are expanding the campaign internationally to encompass several European stores and three more charities in Canada.

Mountain Warehouse Partners With Newlife Earlier this year, Mountain Warehouse partnered with Newlife, who are a charity who recycle and sell surplus and returned high street items in their stores across the UK. All profit made by Newlife supports its care services for children and their families in Britain. Essential specialist equipment is provided through grants, and Newlife provides the only rapid response equipment loan service in the UK. Newlife’s emergency equipment loans aim to assist families who just can’t wait for the equipment they desperately need, within just 72 hours. Newlife also has a free nurse helpline offering advice and support to families, often at a time of crisis. After hearing from countless families about the difficulties of accessing specialist toys for their children, Newlife created its range of Play Therapy Pods, which provide a loan of specialist toys for 12 weeks at a time. Since June 2019, our 250+ UK based, and numerous European stores, have been donating all unsellable products to Newlife, who have repaired and resold these items for charity. As well as helping to support the fantastic work that the charity does, this safe revitalisation of products helps divert old stock from landfill sites.
