Schroders Personal Wealth (SPW) partners with charity Groundwork

Groundwork has partnered with Schroders Personal Wealth (SPW) on a new programme that will offer tailored support to help beneficiaries manage their finances.

The ‘Money Mentors’ programme will see Groundwork employees up-skilled in financial confidence training that will enable them to provide practical advice and guidance for those in need.

Training will be given to Groundwork employees who work on existing youth, employment and community projects, enabling them to offer the expertise to the people and communities they work alongside. This support will enable people to feel more informed about their financial choices and available services, as well as instilling a sense of confidence as people learn the skills to be able to take control of their finances.

This package of support comes at a pivotal time for many people as the cost of living crisis continues to hit those who are already in debt or struggling to manage their day-to-day finances.

The guidance offered through Groundwork project delivery – to those who are often from the most disadvantaged parts of society – will ensure that targeted advice is given where it will be of most benefit to the people Groundwork support. The twelve-month programme aims to support up to 500 people in regions across England.

"Now more than ever it’s vital that we help people take more control of their finances. In a cost of living crisis we need to do everything we can to ensure people have the skills and support they need to make their money go further while also providing information about the debt relief services and other support that they can access. We are pleased to be working alongside Schroders so that we can improve our own ability to provide this support to those who need it most."

Graham Duxbury, Groundwork’s UK Chief Executive

"We are committed to being a responsible business and making a positive contribution in our communities and wider society. Our partnership with Groundwork aligns perfectly with our strong belief in the importance of financial wellbeing and education which we believe, now more than ever, is such an important topic and one that we feel incredibly passionate about. As the cost of living continues to increase, SPW and Groundwork are committed to supporting those that are going to be hardest hit. We look forward to working with Groundwork to develop a comprehensive training programme which we hope will make a real difference in the communities they work with. We believe this partnership will help increase the general level of financial literacy in communities across the UK."
