KBC raises €130000 for their charity partner The Alzheimer Society of Ireland
KBC Bank Ireland and their charity partner The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) have recently announced that they ended 2017 on a high with almost €130,000 raised via a series of fundraising efforts by KBC staff. KBC and ASI formed a new charity partnership in June 2017 and funds raised for the organisation in the past 6 months have exceeded KBC’s expected fundraising total by over 160%. The new charity partnership has enabled The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) to further its work in providing services such as day care, home care and family carer training, as well as social clubs, mobile information units and Alzheimer cafes. The money raised by KBC staff will be used by the charity to fund iPads across its 52 day care centres, to upgrade the ASI website as the primary source of information and contact for those affected by Alzheimer’s, and to run the ASI mobile information service for one year, providing much needed support in rural areas, especially for those with limited access to care and facilities. Chief Executive of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI), Pat McLoughlin said, "On behalf of the Alzheimer Society I'd like to say a big thank you to KBC for their support in raising this huge sum. We need this to be able to deliver our services to help support people with dementia and carers across the country, so it means a lot to us. In addition to engaging in fundraising drives for us, KBC staff have participated in a dementia awareness session, shared their skills and volunteered in our day centres. Their remarkable interest and unbounded energy is hugely welcome and much appreciated."
